Welcome to The Stronlossit Inn
Recommended day tours
Lochaber is at the heart of big country touring in Scotland at its very best
Sensational routes abound, to be enjoyed by car, by motor bike, by bicycle
Lochaber welcomes visitors and travellers to the Highlands on the A82 by Rannoch Moor in the south; it stretches all the way to the sea coastline including Ardnamurchan and Mallaig in the west, and includes the historical area of Glen Spean in the north east and of course the Great Glen in the north – on the way to Loch Ness. What a wonderful eclectic area of the Scottish Highland landscape

Classic car touring
Cars and especially classic cars are a passion of many. Whether your passion is veteran or vintage to classics and even some current models, Lochaber and the West Highlands is fabulous big country touring and car enthusiasts and car clubs from all over the world can testify to that
Whether you are just one car or part of a larger tour, Stronlossit Inn has some real plus points. The hotel has a proven reputation for excellent dining and wining, wonderful local ales and malts and exceptional service and these qualities will be enjoyed by all guests whether you are on your own or your club has taken exclusive use of the hotel. Great food from 8 am until 10 om (or later by arrangement if you are on a particularly long day tour) places us streets ahead of the local competition
Our setting in Roy Bridge, just 9 miles north of Fort William, is beautiful, surrounded with typical mountain and west coast scenery and some wonderful Aonach Mor mountain views straight from the hotel . Also, the roads in the surrounding area are particularly good for driving as they are well maintained, many of them wide, and offer spectacular scenery as you drive along the side of lochs and through glens. They are also, if you can avoid peak season, relatively free from traffic!
Bike clubs
Lochaber and the West Highlands of Scotland is absolute world class big country touring, especially ideal for motor bike and cycle clubs visiting and touring Scotland from both the UK and overseas, notably from Western Europe and the Netherlands. The whole area is a sightseeing, touring, activity and adventure paradise in Scotland offering a wealth of themed and small group tour possibilities. Enjoy fantastic historical tours in Scotland too – after all this is Jacobite and Bonnie Prince Charlie country

Coach tours and tour stops
The diversity of choice of Scottish coach tours is overwhelming taking you anywhere from Lochs and Castles to the rugged yet impressive Highlands, typical Scottish villages, whisky distilleries, islands and old monuments. Drivers have a good knowledge of Scotland, of the best places to go to and how to give you the most memorable tour highlights. Sometimes they make short impromptu stops in order to show you something unique. Whereas otherwise it would be difficult to drive or travel on your own and come across great places, the bus tours do that for you
Stronlossit is that perfect coach stop, whether it be for morning coffee or even breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, high tea (or dinner by arrangement) Our unique location on the ‘Laggan Road’ between Spean Bridge and Dalwhinnie straddles the A 82 and the A9. In the peak of summer we sometimes see over 30 different coach tour operators pass the hotel and we ask you to consider Stronlossit for your next stop on that route, with private facilities for a full coach, both for hospitality, and coach parking
Local tour guides
There are many local tourist guides operating in Lochaber as you might expect. We recommend that you use a Blue Badge Tourist Guide, recommended and vetted by STGA (Scottish Tourist Guide Association), the official Scottish body to train professional tourist guides at the highest and most comprehensive standards of quality for the Scottish tourism industry, to be qualified, confident, and capable of guiding anywhere in Scotland
Stronlossit warmly welcomes STGA Blue Badge guides and their clients. Should you be visiting the area, staying at the hotel and wish the services of a tour guide. You can book a guide directly at www.stga.co.uk
Additionally, some local taxi firms offer private tours of the Highlands and these can be excellent as you get to stop off in lots of places for photos and rests. Click here for more information
